Okanagan Wildfire Responders - Gratitude Event

Updated: Sep 18, 2023

ATTENTION

Our wildfire responders are still actively involved in extinguishing the westside wildfires while support workers continue to address the needs of residents impacted by this crisis. It is under this backdrop that our committee, in consultation with our local municipalities, has made the decision to delay the The Westside Wildfire Responders - Gratitude Event until early spring. At that time the wildfires should be suppressed and our local responders will have had time to rest and recover.

Over a hundred private and governmental agencies (municipal, provincial, federal, international) have assisted with subduing the westside McDougall Creek Wildfire. These men and women to work tirelessly to mitigate wildfire damage and ensure residents and their properties remain safe.

Several neighbourhood associations, community service clubs and members of the community will be combining forces to host a Westside Wildfire Responders - Gratitude Event in late fall or early spring. The event will have family-focused activities, live music and formal gratitude from invited delegates. Firefighters, support workers and their families along with westside residents are invited to attend.
