West Kelowna Releases Water Quality Report

CARO Analytical Services completed water quality testing on July 27th and reported their findings to the City of West Kelowna. The following are the Manganese levels in nine water pumping stations.


MAC - Maximum Acceptable Concentration

MAC guidelines are based on a comprehensive review of the known health effects associated with each contaminant, on exposure levels and on the availability of treatment and analytical technologies. Aesthetic objectives (colour, odor or taste) are provided when they play a role in determining whether consumers will consider the water drinkable.


MAC for Manganese Dioxide (MnO2), which causes the discolouration in the water is 0.120.

According to the City of West Kelowna, water quality testing will continue regularly throughout August.
