Message to Shannon Lake Residents,
Just a friendly reminder that the Shannon Lake Golf Course is private property and unauthorized use - hiking, sledding, dog-walking - of the course is not permitted at any time.
During frost and winter conditions, walking on the course can cause significant damage to the turf. When grass is frozen, the blades become brittle and the plant cells can rupture under pressure. Footprints in snow and frost can also compact the turf and leave long-lasting scars that take time and resources to repair in the spring.
Examples of frost and snow damage to golf courses:

SLGC General Manager John Jacoby reminds residents, “We appreciate that many residents value the natural beauty of the golf course and the sense of community it brings. However, respecting property boundaries, at all times of the year, is essential for the safety of all and the continued quality of the facility throughout the year.”
